The Way of The Warrior Princess

The Way of The Warrior Princess

Today, October 29th 2009 would have been Zena, My Warrior Princesses 50th Birthday. It has now been four years and a fortnight since God called her home. I have been waiting for this day to write this portion of The Warrior Princess Section of HammerJammerU.com .
You fight the Tri-Care battles, the commissary wars, the Day Care enfilade, the logistics puzzles of two soccer matches, piano lessons, and meal prep. Along with keeping the budget, repairing and maintaining the car, the lawn, the laundry, and the house; working a job and helping at DODDS Schools, along with tutoring and loving your children and your soldier. To top it all off there is never enough money, time, or energy to do all the things you see as your duty.
It is not surprising that some cannot do it. Not every soldier can be a Ranger either. But if you are going to do it, if you want what brought you into the marriage bad enough, if you understand that your support of your soldier has a direct impact on what he does and thus world events. If you understand that some people merely witness history while others live it, and you are one of the latter. Then you are ready to understand ‘The Way’.
Once you understand and learn ‘The Way’ you will have the tools to be a Warrior Princess. You will see your duty maybe a little more clearly, accomplish your mission with fewer hassles (notice I didn’t say no hassles). At some point you may find that the only limits you really have are self imposed. Once you see that truth within yourself, you will be a Warrior Princess.
Tools of The Way
In the Army, rangers are developed by the process of rigorous and repetitive training of the fundamentals, coupled with a series of problems that push them to their physical and mental limits it’s what makes them elite. The soldiers that succeed are the ones who want it bad enough, and have done the necessary physical and mental preparation to succeed. One of the training philosophies is that if you practice a task 5-8 times you will develop proficiency, 15 times and you can teach it to another, 25 times and you are a subject matter expert. So it is with The Way, what you have to determine is what level of expertise you need to succeed.
There are six fundamental areas to The Way. They are Finance, Vehicle and Home Maintenance, Time Management, Logistics, Education, and Communication. As this Blog progresses I will either write articles and or fill in links under each heading that will be your tools, if you know of another web source that you think would be useful please email it to me and I will add it to the page. I will be searching for more and more web based Points of Contact (POC’s) that may prove useful, including but not limited to ACS and Chaplains around the globe. So join me in the journey, travel the road less traveled by and be a Warrior Princess….

Note: In the next couple days we will be moving this blog info to a reorganize Stories of the Warrior Princess Page please be patient with us thanks.

More on the Way

So you understand, I write today not out of sadness, for Zena’s loss (though I do miss her so) but out of admiration and joy that she left me with so many ways to help folks by her example. I dedicate these articles, and information to her and all of you like her; who have to face so many trying times, often so far from your own homes and loved ones. Yet at every turn she and you rise to the occasion, face the day with your chin up, shoulders back, and you move in to the fray head on like a Marine hitting the beach. Finally I dedicate this to my good friend Doris, who was a great friend of Zena’s, whose husband Steve (MSG, ret) was one of my troops during the Gulf War; and is on 100% disability retirement. She walks the walk of a Warrior Princess every day. She too is one of my Heroes.

I am not a paid or compensated spokesman for any product identified with in this Web Site. I place them here as a matter of illustration and convenience to you the user, because both Zena or I have found them useful in the past or I recognize their utility now. I would encourage any military user of this site be it soldier or family member to check with their local PX as to availability and price before purchase.

I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Zena in person, but talked to her on the phone a few times. She and her family, (you and your son) became a part of my family also. Her loss was tragic and I prayed and cried with you all….how can you not when a piece of the families heart is gone. God bless ……..
